THEOLOGY IN THE TRENCHES

There is a Log in the Way There’s a reason for everything— or so I’ve been told. This time I applied these words to a verse being read in the book of Matthew.

GREEN THUMB

By Arnold Krusemark It is now November. Daylight Savings ends this week-end. The weather is getting colder and we have had our first snowfall. The seasons do not (normally) change in a day, but we usually get only a few snow flurries a time or two before we get inches on the ground. Time will tell how things go this year. As for our garden produce, the above ground things are essentially done for the year. This leaves the root crops left to be dug and brought in. And the rest of the house outside and yard work to get done before it really gets cold. And winter sets in. If you planted trees and shrubs be sure they get watered so the roots get established before freezeup. And then there’s the house winterizing too. One is to clean out the garage so the car goes in, make sure the snow shovels are available, and the snow things for the car too.

W.A.I.T. (Why Am I Talking)

“The talkative listen to no one, for they are ever speaking. And the first evil that attends those who know not how to be silent is that they hear nothing.” - Plutarch Aman of few words recently told me about the acronym WAIT, which stands for “why am I talking?”It was apparently conveyed to him in the context of business meetings, and the intent is to get people to think before they speak, and more specifically to consider whether what they are going to say has anything to add to the meeting.
