MURRAY COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY INVITES EVERYONE TO THEIR 2024 ANNUAL MEETING

The Murray County Historical Society will be holding their 2024 annual meeting on Sunday, October 13th at the Key Largo Ballroom starting at 2pm. There will be a presentation on the Jame’s brothers escape from Northfield, followed by a short business meeting. Refreshments will be provided. We hope to see everyone there!

OCTOBER BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

October is recognized as breast cancer awareness month. According to the Minnesota Department of Health there are 170 breast cancer survivors in Murray County. But screening tests can catch breast cancer early when it may be easier to treat. “I encourage all women over 40 to get screened every year” said Kim Konkol, a Slayton area breast cancer survivor. “It is easy to put it off because you are busy, but you need to do this for yourself and your family.”

COUNTY APPROVES FUNDING FOR NEW WONDER WORLD FACILITY

Slayton, MN October 1, 2024 — The Wonder World Board of Directors is pleased to announce that the Murray County Commissioners have approved funding requests to support the construction of a new facility.

FRIENDS OF LAKE SHETEK STATE PARK TO HOST THE 18TH ANNUAL FALL PUMPKIN FESTIVAL

Join us for a day of fall fun at the 18th Annual Fall Pumpkin Festival at Lake Shetek State Park’s Zuya Group Center on Saturday, Oct. 19 from 1 – 3:30 p.m. Come on out and jump in the biggest leaf pile you’ve ever seen! There will be face painting, hayrides, pumpkin decorating, many activities and prizes to be had, along with s’mores by the campfire and refreshments.
