Each October, Minnesota’s children get a school break during the Minnesota Educator Academy. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources encourages families to spend time outdoors during the MEA break, which is Oct. 16-17 this year.

The League of Minnesota Cities is excited to announce the launch of the 2025 Mayor for a Day Essay Contest, inviting Minnesota’s fourth, fifth, and sixth graders to share their big ideas for improving their communities.

The Murray County Central Rebels started their second to last week of the volleyball season with their only game of the week Tuesday night. The Rebels played host to the Adrian Ellsworth Dragons.

Admit/Omit/Permit Funny how words sometimes echo through the soul longing to make their way into the depths of the heart. In a way, I suppose, it’s all linked to purity of heart.

Whether you are a Christian or not, we will all stand before God one day and give an account of our life here on earth. For the Christian, it is called the ‘Judgement Seat of Christ.’ The believers will be judged on what they did with Jesus Christ, since they were saved, and whether our motives were pure in whatever our good deeds were.

Court Queen of Peace met Sept.16 beginning with a light supper followed by call to order by Deanna Konkol. Yvonne Zontag was introduced as the District Deputy for this area. After prayer and flag pledge the secretary and treasurer’s reports and correspondence from scholarship winner, Carson Engelkes, were read. There was also an invitation from Murray County Museum to decorate a Christmas tree using the theme ”Hunting for the Holidays”. No one volunteered. Barb Minnehan indicated 65 members with 6 left to pay dues. Jill McCord passed the dish for donations for the seminarians.

By Norma Ditmann Fulda City Council received an update on the CSAH 2 Project from Bollig Project Engineer Jordan Odegard. He stated that the current water main and sanitary sewer near the assisted living building runs under the parking lot. For ease of maintenance and access, Bollig wants to install the systems in 7th Street NE instead of it being replaced in the current location. Odegard also said that there are unknown sanitary sewer service locations due to lack of previously being televised, and that those lines will need further investigation as the proposed sanitary will be installed in a different location rather than the existing one. More work will be done to gather the information that is still needed prior to the start of the improvements.

By Norma Ditmann Under review by the Slayton City Council during their Monday, October 6th meeting, was the Bolllig Engineering Task Order No. 1 proposal. The project Title is Slayton Airport - Airport Zoning and Clear Zone Acquisition Plan. The work will include a completion of Airport Zoning and Clear Zone Acquisition Plan for approval by MnDOT aeronautics. The plan received approval from the council.
