The Murray County Historical Society invites the public to attend its November Dinehart Lunchbox Lecture on Tuesday, November 8 in the 4-H building on the Murray County Fairgrounds in Slayton starting at noon. The cost of the talk is $3.00 per person or Historical Society members get in free. Attendees are welcome to bring their own lunch. Refreshments and light snacks are provided.

Producers in Murray County are eligible to apply for 2022 Livestock Forage Disaster Program (LFP) benefits on native pasture, grazed forage sorghum, annual ryegrass and full season improved pasture. LFP provides compensation if you suffer grazing losses for covered livestock due to drought on privately owned or cash leased land or fire on federally managed land.

The Murray County Christmas Project is again planning to provide toys and gifts to over 300 eligible children in Murray County. We are accepting donations of toys and gifts for children 0 through 11 years of age. We also need stocking caps and mittens. Monetary gifts are also accepted to help with the purchase of gift items.

The MCC Rebels opened Section 3A football playoffs with a home game Tuesday night against the Adrian Ellsworth Dragons. The same two teams played in Adrian last Wednesday to complete the regular season. The Rebels won that game in double overtime to earn the right to host the playoff opener against the Dragons. It was a beautiful night for football and both teams were ready to play. The winner knew they would play the TMB Panthers on Saturday because the Panthers had already advanced due to Wabasso not participating in the playoffs. With the Panthers in the stands the Rebels and the Dragons would take to the field of play for the second time in six days.
