MCC Elementary has been busy this year adapting and implementing our new science curriculum, Amplify Science, for students in grades K-5. Each grade level is different with its implementation, and the first year of adaption is always the most difficult as we change from a previous curriculum to a new curriculum. This innovative program is designed to transform the way we teach and learn science, providing a hands-on and engaging experience for students at MCC. We would like to take this opportunity to share with you how Amplify Science differs from traditional science curricula and the benefits it offers.

On March 13, 2024 at 0823 Murray County deputies located a vehicle known to be driven by Sean Eric Vanmeveren. As Murray County Deputies were setting up a perimeter to attempt to make an arrest, Vanmeveren got into his vehicle and began driving toward two Murray County Deputies. Once Vanmeveren saw the deputies he accelerated his vehicle around the waiting deputies, deputies were able to identify Vanmeveren as the driver. Murray County Deputies radioed dispatch they were involved in a pursuit with Vanmeveren.

Join Extension entomologists from several regional universities in the midwest soybean gall midge research update webinar on Friday, April 5 from 9 to 11 a.m. This live webinar will feature several short, research- based updates on the biology, ecology and management strategies for soybean gall midge (SGM), a pest discovered in the Upper Midwest in 2018. Learn more about the latest developments in SGM’s cold tolerance and overwintering ability, potential biological control methods with predators and parasites, and host plant resistance. The session will offer plenty of time for questions and discussion with the experts. Two pest management certified crop advisor CEUs will be available.

LOCKWOOD MOTORS, ABRA, AND SHINE CENTER INVESTS IN UNITED WAY OF SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA

Lockwood Motors, ABRA, and the Shine Center held a workplace campaign to support the United Way of Southwest Minnesota (UWSWMN). During the campaign, employees donated $3,132 through payroll pledges and other contributions. Lockwood Motors made a matching contribution of $3,818, making the total campaign amount $6,264.
