MCC REBELS TOOK ON THE RTR KNIGHTS IN HOME ACTION THIS PAST THURSDAY

Thursday night the MCC Rebels played their final regular season home game. MCC saluted their parents and seniors before the game. The Rebels would salute their fans with their best all around game of the season. MCC played host to the RTR Knights and showed big play ability on both sides of the football as the Rebels picked up their fifth win of the season.

Many schools nationwide have identified this as an area that needs improvement in students – especially since the social and educational interruptions of the COVID 19 pandemic.

MURRAY COUNTY 4-H TO HOLD ANNUAL BOO BASH EVENT ON NOVEMBER 1

The Murray County 4-H program is excited to host their annual BOO BASH event on November 1, 2024, at the Murray County 4-H Building! BOO BASH will be from 7 – 9:30 p.m., Friday, November 1 at the Murray County 4-H Building, 3048 Broadway Ave., Slayton, MN 56172. This event is open to ALL youth in grades 5 – 8.

WOODSTOCK TELEPHONE COMPANY AWARDED BROADBAND GRANT

The MN Employment and Economic Development Office of Broadband Development recently announced 26 grants for the FY 2025 Border to Border Broadband 2024 Grant Round 10. Woodstock Telephone Company was awarded the Skandia FITH Low Density Project. This was one of only eight Low Density Grants given. The project will cover a rural area east of Skandia in Murray County and is for a Fiber-To-The-Premises Network that would utilize existing Woodstock-owned middle-mile fiber and offer speeds up to 1G upload and 1G download. This project will serve residents and businesses at 190 unserved locations. State Grant awarded is $2,914,733. Local Match is $971,578. Total Eligible Project Cost is $3,886,311. Funding partner, Murray County is contributing $485, 789.

Community Education Flag Football

On October 7th, thirty-six 3rd and 4th graders from Murray County Central completed their football season. They played each other 5 Monday nights this fall..

CHRISTMAS CONCERT PRACTICES

Practice for the Slayton Area Community Band’s and the Community Choir’s Christmas Concert will begin Tuesday, October 29th. The band will practice in the high school band room at 7 PM. The choir will practice in the High School Choir Room at 8 PM. New members are always welcome!

TREE DECORATORS WANTED FOR THE MURRAY COUNTY MUSEUM’S HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE

Your group, organization, or business is invited to participate in the Murray County Museum’s 2024 Holiday Open House at the Dinehart Holt House! This year the theme is “A County School Christmas!” We encourage you to decorate a tree, area of the home, or even a whole room. Use your imagination to come up with something fun! The trees will be provided by the Murray County Museum.
