MURRAY COUNTY 4-H AMBASSADOR GROUP SERVES THREE HUNDRED MEALS FOR THE FEED OUR FARMER EVENT

Slayton, MN. (10/07/2024)— The Murray County 4-H Program and Ambassador team offered a Feed our Farmers event to help local farming families during the busy harvest season. For the second year, Ambassadors have prepared, packed, and distributed over three hundred meals for area families. The idea came from a previous Ambassador, Landon Beek, when the team was brainstorming ideas on how to help the community. “Planting and harvest season is always a busy time for our farming families. If we can help out in any way it is worth it,” said Beek when presenting this to the team.

PAPLOW NEW LIBRARY DIRECTOR AT SLAYTON LIBRARY

By Crystal Reith, Staff Reporter Dwayna Paplow, of Fulda, has taken over the reigns as the new library director at the Slayton Public Library.Paplow started her new role when longtime director Lori Stainer retired at the end of August. “I have been able to hit the ground running because of the foundation left by the two previous library directors,” said Paplow. “I’m blessed that I feel like if I run into something unexpected, I can call on their wisdom for help.”

WARRIORS BLAZE THROUGH BOLD/ BLHS CROSS COUNTRY MEET

By Allie Paulzine, Student Reporter In a thrilling display of speed and endurance, the MCC/F Warrior athletes took to the course this past Thursday, October, 3rd for the BOLD/BLHS Annual Cross Country Meet. Runners from BOLD, Community Christian, G-F-W, Holy Family Catholic, MACCRAY/ RCW, MCC/ Fulda, Redwood Valley, Sibley East, Wabasso, and YME showcased their skills. They not only battled the course but also each other, competing for top places. As the dust settled, standout performances highlighted the races, setting the stage for an exciting second half of the season with conference meets and sections quickly approaching.

REBEL FOOTBALL DOMINATES AGAINST THE PANTHERS

The football regular season moved into week five this past Friday with the MCC Rebels taking on the TMB Panthers. The Rebels and the Panthers play for the helmet which is passed to the winning team of each game they play during the regular season. Last year the Panthers beat the Rebels to win the helmet and this season the Panthers were celebrating Homecoming Friday night. The Rebels were hoping to get the win and get a little revenge on the Panthers for last year’s win. The Rebels took care of business on Friday, on their way to picking up their fourth win of the season.

REBELS FALL TO DEFENDING STATE CHAMPS RTR

The MCC Rebels played their 8th game in the last seven days on Tuesday night. In that time the Rebels played some good volleyball teams, but on Tuesday the Rebels would play the Russell Tyler Ruthton Knights. The defending state champions have had a strong year. While they had to replace 5 seniors from last season, the Knights remain one of the best teams in the area and one of the favorites in Section 3A. The Rebels were put to the test and the Knights got the victory.

BOTH TEAMS BATTLED BUT THE ARROWS TOOK THE WIN

The MCC Rebels were back in action on Monday night playing host to the Pipestone Area Arrows. The Rebels were coming off a tough weekend in the Marshall Tournament in which they lost to the Arrows on Friday. MCC was looking to bounce back against a team that has struggled to beat teams that the Rebels have beaten already this season. In what would be one of the most frustrating games of the season, the Rebels came up short.
