The city council met on Monday, February 5th. Mayor Miron Carney asked for corrections, questions, or additions to the agenda, the regular meeting minutes from January 16th, and the Special Meeting from January 24th (Electric Municipal) meeting on January 24th. There were none. All were approved as printed.

The regular meeting of the Murray County Board of Commissioners was held on Tuesday, February 06, 2024. Commissioner Jackie Meier was not present for the meeting.

The University of Minnesota Extension Slayton Winter Crops Day and Small Grains Program will be held in person on Thursday, Feb. 22, at the 4-H building in Slayton. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., with the program running from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Whether you farm or work with farmers, this program is a great opportunity to hear the latest University-based research and information about corn, soybean and small grain production issues and management strategies. The morning program will focus on corn and soybean management topics pertinent to our area. The Southern Small Grains Program will follow in the afternoon, where topics will address successful small grain management.

The MCC Rebel Girls Basketball team wrapped up their week at home for their third straight home game of the week. The Rebels hosted the RTR Knights in the second meeting between the two teams this season. The Knights and the Rebels both have 8 wins this season but the Rebels had three more losses than the Knights coming into the contest. The Knights have proven to be a tough team to beat for MCC over the last several years and that continued on Thursday as the Knights picked up their ninth win.

The MCC Rebels were back at home on Monday for the first of three games this week. The Rebels played host to the HBC Patriots in a rematch of the Rebel’s biggest win of the season from two weeks ago. The Rebels on that night, fell behind early but would rally and finish the game strong for the win. Monday night the Rebels fell behind big and the Patriots wouldn’t look back.

The Fulda Murray County Central Warriors had one triangular this past week against state ranked #8 Lake Crystal Welcome Memorial(LCWM), and the state ranked #4 Jackson County Central(JCC). The Warriors performed remarkably well and the score board showed it.
