Hadley played a double-header on Sunday. Here is Sunday’s double-header recap:
GAME 1 HADLEY 9 MILROY 8
Hadley battled the Milroy Yankees in a non-league friendly game. The game began with light precipitation falling. Owen Gillette would start on the hill for Hadley. The Yankees would collect 3 straight off Owen to take a quick 1-0 lead. Hadley would counter with 3 of their own when they would collect 3 hits along with 2 hit batters and a walk. A single from Max Zwart and a double from Austin Irlbeck accounted for Hadley’s runs. Hadley had an opportunity to break things open but Milroy got out of any further damage leaving the bases loaded.
Hadley would have opportunities to add to their lead in the 2nd and 3rd but failed, leaving runners in scoring position. Milroy would tie the game in the 3rd when a fielding error opened the door for Milroy as Owen would surrender a 2-run home run.
Brody Wixon took over on the mound for Hadley in the 4th. Milroy would get a 2 out double off Wixon, but a fly ball out got Wixon out of the inning. Hadley would tack on 2 runs in the 4th to go up 5-3. Tucker Sorenson would single to start the inning and would steal home by catching the Yankees off guard with the ball after Derek Kluis walked. A sacrifice fly from Austin Irlbeck accounted for Hadley’s other run.

GAME 2 HADLEY 3 FAIRMONT 2 7 Innings
First Nite League heavy, Fairmont Martins came to Hadley in the second game of the twin bill. A Buttermaker victory over the Fairmont team would mean a lot when it comes to end of the season league tournament seeding. Manager, Myron Bennett sent lefty Dylan Kluis to the mound to battle the Martins.
Things did not start off good for Dylan as the Martins led off with 3 straight hits to take a quick 2-0 lead. Fairmont tried to lengthen their lead but, Max Zwart cut down a Martin runner trying to score on a ground ball out to halt any further Martin scoring. Tucker Sorenson would lead off for Hadley and send the first pitch over the fence to cut the lead to 2-1.
In the 2nd, Dylan would put the Martins down on order. Danny Blankenship would lead off Hadley’s at bat in the 2nd. Danny would strike out but reach 1st base on a passed ball. Abe Paulzine would put down a successful sacrifice bunt, moving Blankenship to 2nd. Bryce Ahrendt would walk. Blankenship would move to 3rd on a passed ball and Ahrendt would move to 2nd on a successful delayed steal. With 2 outs, Tucker Sorenson would step up and hit a line drive that hopped past the Fairmont 1st baseman for a 3-2 Hadley lead.
Dylan Kluis would keep Fairmont bats quiet by allowing the Martins just one additional hit in the 5th inning. Hadley would make fielding errors in the 4th and 5th innings, which made things challenging for the Buttermakers, but Dylan was able to work his way out of trouble.
Hadley had opportunities to add to their lead but was unable to push any runs across. Max Zwart would double in the 3rd but would not advance any further. In the 5th, Hadley would put runners on 2nd and 3rd with only 1 out, but Fairmont would escape with Hadley still holding on to a 3-2 lead. Hadley would get back-to-back singles in the 6th, but Tucker Sorenson would hit a line drive up the middle that would be snared by the Fairmont pitcher as the game moved to the 7th with Hadley holding the one run lead.
Another Buttermaker fielding error on the lead off Martin batter made the game interesting as the tensions raised in the park. Lincoln Swanjord would replace Kluis on the mound to close out the game. Lincoln would strike out the side to end the game for the Hadley 3-2 victory.
Sorenson led Hadley with 3 hits and 3 rbis. Austin Irlbeck, Derek Kluis, Max Zwart, Bryce Ahrendt and Alex Petersen all had 1 hit. Dylan Kluis would earn the win, and Lincoln Swanjord earned the save.
