As the year draws to a close, a goal that once felt unattainable is getting closer for Wonder World Preschool. Fundraising efforts for a new building are now at approximately $1.75 million, with a target of $2.1 million.
Murray County Attorney Travis Smith was awarded the MCAA Award of Excellence at the Minnesota County Attorneys Association’s Annual Meeting on December 3, 2025. This award honors an individual who has engaged in activities that show a high level of dedication, professionalism, and commitment to public service and the public practice of law by demonstrating extraordinary leadership, initiative, or innovation in the performance of their duties.
For their Christmas Project, MCC Elementary School put together Birthday Bags to donate to the Murray County Food Shelf. Each grade donated a specific item to go into the bags - cake mixes, cake frosting, candles, birthday plates, napkins.
By Crystal Reith The Makatoh Reconciliation and Healing Horse Ride honors ancestors, shares history and provides healing. The ride also serves as a powerful tribute to the 38 Dakota warriors executed in 1862 following the U.S.–Dakota War as well as two Dakota chiefs, Medicine Bottle and Shakopee, that were hanged in 1864. These hangings, ordered by President Abraham Lincoln, remain the largest mass execution ever carried out by the United States government.
MCCVS.EDGERTON The MCC Rebel girls played host to the Edgerton Flying Dutchmen on Thursday night. The Rebels were looking to stay undefeated in Red Rock Conference play, while the Dutchmen were looking to make it three wins in a row.
The MCC Rebel Boys were back at home on Monday night playing host to Westbrook Walnut Grove. The Rebels and the Chargers have had great battles over the years in the Red Rock Conference and Monday night was no different. The Chargers were looking to add to their 3-1 record to open the season and MCC was looking for their second win of the season against one loss. It didn’t look good for the Rebels in the first half, but the game would be decided in the second.
The F/MCC Warriors traveled to Pipestone on December 11 for a quadrangular against the Red Rock Central Falcons, and the Pipestone Arrows, who are both part of Section 3A. The Worthington Trojans rounded off the meet for a non-section matchup.
