The Kopperuds will join other farm families in a special recognition ceremony at Farmfest in Redwood Falls on Thursday, August 4th. Krista recently remarked she and Andy are humbled by this recognition as there are so many deserving farm families.

MCC SCHOOL BOARD DISCUSS NEW GYM FLOOR, START OF THE SCHOOL YEAR AND OPEN POSITIONS

Murray County Central School Board met on Monday, August 8th. The Board approved the agenda with additions and consent agenda items. These included the minutes from the July 11th meeting, the financials for the month, and personnel items. The personnel items included the coaching, advisor and extra assignments to teaching staff as well as those who are outside of the district. The resignation of Andy Berndt, Director of Technology was also accepted and they will post to hire for this position. There was no one present for open forum.

SLAYTON CITY COUNCIL MET

The Slayton City Council met on Monday, August 1st. Absent were Mayor Miron Carney and Blake Heronimus. The agenda was approved with additions. The minutes from the July 18th meeting were reviewed and approved, as were the claims.

KICK-OFF FOR TRI-PARISH GROUP DEEMED A SUCCESS!

It was a beautiful evening for a get-together with friends and family at the Slayton swimming pool. The smell of the hamburgers being grilled by the Cattlemen was more than enticing, the burgers were delicious; the generous burger between the butter coated and grilled buns made for a meal fit for royalty. Add to that chips and an ice cream treat and noone went away hungry.

JOSIE HARMS NAMED TO DEAN’S LIST AT BETHEL UNIVERSITY

Josie Harms has been named to the Bethel University Dean’s List for academic excellence for the spring 2022 semester. She is the daughter of Kirsten and Isaac Harms from Slayton, Minnesota.

MURRAY COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

The Murray County Board of Commissioners met on August 2, 2022 in the first session of the month. Auditor Treasurer Heidi Winter presented the Commissioners Warrants and the Ditch Bills for approval. She also brought forward the report of the ARPA committee for expenditure of the funds that will total nearly $1.6M at the completion of the program. The current requests were for $46,750 to update the HVAC system for the data center located in the courts building. The 60-80 month expected delay for equipment was unexpectedly shortened with an offer from the supplier for a unit for which another order had been canceled. Another $76,224.63 was approved to line all of the sewer lines in the Courts Building after cracks have been discovered.
