GOOD NEWS

By John Stenen An atheist attended a church service and later confronted the preacher and asked, “What do you mean when you say our sins are cleansed by the blood of the Lamb? How in the world can His blood cleanse our sin?” The preacher thought for a moment and replied. “How can water quench your thirst?” “I don’t know how it does,” replied the atheist, “I just know it does.” “Well,” said the preacher, “I don’t know just how the blood cleanses sin, but I know it does. Scripture tells us that without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin.” 1 Peter 1:18-19 (NLT) says, “For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And it was not paid with mere gold or silver, which will lose their value. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God.” Water cannot cleanse our sin, it requires the shed blood of Jesus Christ, which He shed for us, on the cross. Read the New Testament and you will see that when the people are saved, they first hear the good news of the gospel, then turn from their life of sin, receive Jesus Christ into their hearts by faith and are born-again. God bless.

GREEN THUMB

By Arnold Krusemark Some years back (in the 1940s I think) there was a contest to create a slogan for Minnesota. The winning slogan was “Minnesota, theater of seasons”. We have sure had good examples of that. Last week we had bad weather with the roads iced over and cold. This week it was warm enough it was nearly 70 degrees outside and some wore their T-shirts leaving this coats inside.
