JOHNSON LEADS MCC GIRLS GOLF TEAM AT STATE

MCC’s girls golf team performed very well at the 2025 Class A State Tournament. The Rebel lineup included Ava Johnson (Senior), Theran Mannon (Senior), Rachael Huso (Junior), Lizzie Daniels (Junior), Elysia Korver (Junior) and Natalie Einck (Freshman). The girls had an early morning practice round on Monday to prepare for the challenging rounds ahead. The tournament had girls teeing off in the morning and boys in the afternoon this year. The golfers had a perfect day for their round on Tuesday, while Wednesday brought cooler and stormier weather for the boys in the afternoon.

LARSON COMPETES AT STATE TRACK

Anikan Larson finished his high school track and field career at the Minnesota State Track & Field meet held at St. Michael-Albertsville on June 10th and 11th. Normally, sixteen entrants qualify for the state meet in each event as the top two finishers from each of the eight sections automatically advance. Athletes can also qualify by meeting a performance standard. This year eleven runners met that standard to bring the total number of 400 meter dash runners to twenty seven.

MURRAY COUNTY UNITED SOCCER 2025 WRAP UP

The Murray County United Soccer 2025 season was another one for the books! Approximately 450 K-6 students participated from all over Murray County. We had 8 solid weeks of soccer, even with a little bit of rainy and cold weather mixed in.

MURRAY COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY FRONT PORCH CONCERT SERIES

The Murray County Historical Society is excited to announce it has been awarded an Art Projects grant for $3,050 from the Southwest Minnesota Arts Council to host our annual Front Porch Music Concert Series. The concert lineup and dates are as follows: Route 68 Big Band, a group formerly known as the Minneota Community Jazz Band. They play big-band music from the ’30s and ’40s (Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Artie Shaw, etc.) and perform five or six times per year. Directed by John Voit, Minneota High School band director, the group consists of teachers, farmers, and other local community members. See them Thursday, July 24, 2025.

LOCAL PIANO RECITALS

On Sunday, May 4, the students of Christie Gergen performed in a recital at 2:00 PM. Each student played a solo and a duet. There was a wide variety of music played. James Hohler, a student from Anna Jeanne Flesner’s studio in Tracy came to perform as well. Camden, the piano student of Christie Gergen, joined James in piano duets.
