MCC’s girls golf team performed very well at the 2025 Class A State Tournament. The Rebel lineup included Ava Johnson (Senior), Theran Mannon (Senior), Rachael Huso (Junior), Lizzie Daniels (Junior), Elysia Korver (Junior) and Natalie Einck (Freshman). The girls had an early morning practice round on Monday to prepare for the challenging rounds ahead. The tournament had girls teeing off in the morning and boys in the afternoon this year. The golfers had a perfect day for their round on Tuesday, while Wednesday brought cooler and stormier weather for the boys in the afternoon.

This year the Rebels played with the top half of the teams in the state, including defending co-champions Dawson-Boyd and Fillmore Central. Although MCC was challenged by some tough competition, they still shot some great scores. Ava Johnson led the Rebels with a two day total of 177 finishing tied for 21st place. Johnson carded eleven pars throughout both of her rounds and played with determination and poise even when she had a difficult shot or hole. Natalie Einck finished next for MCC, shooting a two day total of 183 finishing in 32nd place. Einck played some of her best golf for the season, recording several pars and a birdie on day one. Rachael Huso finished right behind her with a two day total of 185 landing her tied in 33th place. MCC’s team score was rounded out by Lizzie Daniels who shot a 203. Daniels tied for 60th place out of 86 golfers. MCC’s two day team score was 748 and they ended up finishing in 4th place. The Rebels were a little heartbroken with how they finished, just three strokes out of 3rd place.

However, MCC’s team score this year improved by 25 strokes from their 2024 state appearance total. The Rebels are eager to continue improving their play so they can make another state appearance, and finish in the top three next year.
