SLAYTON CITY COUNCIL HEARS LEGION REQUEST

Slayton American Legion Commander Brad Pagel addressed the Slayton City Council on Monday, asking for financial help in bringing the “Remember Our Fallen” Tribute to Slayton during the Murray County Fair in August 2026.

FIRST-COME, FIRST-SERVED SEATS TO BE OFFERED FOR 2026 DNR ROUNDTABLE

The 2026 Minnesota Department of Natural Resources’ Roundtable — an annual gathering of conservation partners focused on discussing fisheries, wildlife, and ecological and water resource topics and encouraging partnerships — will again include a no-cost, open registration opportunity.

PRUNE OAKS NOW TO AVOID RISK OF OAK WILT INFECTION

Winter is the ideal time to prune or remove oaks. Now through February is a great time to prune or cut oaks without the risk of oak wilt infection, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

FULDA CITY COUNCIL HEARS UPDATE FROM BOLLIG ENGINEERING

Fulda City Council heard an update on municipal projects from Jordan Odegard, Project Engineer, Bollig Engineering. He shared that the CSAH 2 Infrastructure Improvements project is underway. Being worked on are the Fulda City Hall and Fire Hall additions, and the continued pursuit of multiple funding sources for ongoing infrastructure improvements.

CHRISTMAS AROUND THE WORLD CONCERT PERFORMED BY FULDA ELEMENTARY STUDENTS

Students at Fulda Elementary School presented their annual Christmas concert entitled Christmas Around the World on Monday, December 1st, in the gymnasium of the school. Fulda Elementary Band opened the concert with two numbers of “North Pole Parade” and “Christmas Mash Up March”.

WINTER READING ARRIVES EARLY

Join the annual Winter Reading Program and let libraries spark your imagination. Winter Reading is open to adults and teens, ages 16 and older, who have a Plum Creek Library card. This year, Winter Reading starts early, and you can count the books you finish over the holidays. The program runs from December 22, 2025 through March 21, 2026.

K-Kids Collect Donations for the Murray County Christmas Project By: Nikki Cheskie, K-Kids Faculty Advisor MCC K-Kids is a youth community service organization sponsored by the Slayton Kiwanis Club. The K-Kids group is open to all 5th and 6th grade students at MCC.

REBEL GIRLS BEAT RED ROCK CENTRAL

The MCC Rebel Girls looked to start the season with a three game winning streak. To do that the Rebels needed to beat the 0-2 Red Rock Central Falcons on Tuesday night. The Falcons have had their struggles the last two seasons as they have had to rely on younger players at the varsity level without a great deal of depth. The Rebels were able to use their depth and defensive aggressiveness to come away with another strong victory.
