MCC VS MLAC

The MCC Rebel Girl’s lost a hard-fought game against the Hills Beaver Creek Patriots on Tuesday, December 6th. The Rebels rallied hard in the closing minute to lose by one possession. Friday night the Rebels played host to the Mountain Lake Area Comfrey Wolverines in a Red Rock Conference matchup. The Rebels and the Wolverines have played some crazy games with one another over the last several years and this one would be similar. Before you can win you have to learn how to do it and the Rebels learned another lesson on Friday.

REBEL BOYS PLAY A SECOND DAY IN SLEEPY EYE THIS TIME AGAINST THE PUBLIC SCHOOL

The Rebels had less than 16 hours to get over their opening loss to St Marys before taking on the Sleepy Eye Public Indians Saturday morning at 11:30. The Rebels are a veteran team with four starting seniors and two more seniors coming off the bench. Sleepy Eye is the opposite as they don’t have a senior on the roster and dress more 8th graders and Freshman than any other age category. The Rebels experience and strength down low would help them along with their defensive pressure on their way to their first win of the year.

MCC TAKES ON ADRIAN ELLSWORTH GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM

The Murray County Central Rebels opened their home schedule by taking on Red Rock Conference Rival Adrian Ellsworth on Friday night. The Rebels struggled with turnovers against TMB in their first outing of the season but they wouldn’t see near the pressure from the Dragons on Friday. The Rebels would also have a quickness advantage in their overall lineup compared to the Dragons even though Adrian Ellsworth would have the best individual player in the game. The Rebels would put together a good defensive first half but MCC would dominate the second half on their way to victory. The first half would see two very different styles between the two teams. Adrian Ellsworth’s Sadie Krahling was red hot from the field scoring 15 early points. For much of the first half the Dragon guard outscored the Rebels by herself but the longer the game went the tougher it became for Krahling to score. The Rebels struggled to score over the first five minutes of the game but as the Rebels rotated in their players the defense got better and better and the team was able to create fouls. MCC went to the line in the first half and scored half of their points from the charity stripe. Casey Miller and Jayda Hellewell scored 7 points each in the first half and they were the only Rebels to make shots from the field. The other six points were scored at the free throw line. Adrian Ellsworth got 15 points from Krahling but the rest of the team scored 6. The Dragons led at halftime 21 to 20.
