Brooklyne Boerboom works as a hospital nurse and will be transitioning to the Clinic Manager soon. For twelve years a man devoted his life as a hold-up man and a kidnapper. He was caught and sent to prison. It was there that he came to know Jesus Christ and became a changed man. For a lack of anything else to do I attended Bible class and the preaching services. I was told that you had become a Christian and I believed it was all just pretend so you could get a parole. However, I’ve carefully watched you for the last two and a half years; In the yard as you exercised, in the shop as you worked, at meal times, and when we were coming from or going to our cells. I want you to know that I am a Christian now because of my observation of your life; Christ truly lives in you. God bless you brother for being such a godly example.”

Two years ago, a series of four articles entitled “Tato” were published as columns. A condensed reprint of them might be timely. This true story was told to me by Orest who is married to my first cousin. They live in Omaha, Nebraska and have two adopted Ukrainian sons. May we remember well, how quickly freedoms can be taken and to never take what we have for granted. May we hear the voices of those who have gone before us and learn from them. Tato is one voice, and in the end, his perspective is sheer inspiration.

The rain didn’t stop the golfers at the Red Rock Conference meet in Worthington on Tuesday, May 17. MCC was prepared for the challenging 18-hole course, but still got tripped up sometimes on the fast greens and thick roughs. Overall, the Rebels played very well despite the not so perfect conditions.

The veteran First Nite League powerhouse, Fairmont Martins came to Hadley on Sunday to take on the veteran Hadley Buttermakers in early season action. Fairmont has been one team the Buttermakers have had some great wins against, but also some difficult losses in the past. Hadley was hoping that Sunday would be a good day for them in hopes of keeping their record unblemished after 2 weeks of games. Sunday was a good day for Hadley as things went their way as the Buttermakers flew past the Martins in a 7-inning shortened contest, 20-5.
