PESTICIDE APPLICATOR FIELD DAY RECERTIFICATION

The University of Minnesota Extension Pesticide Safety and Environmental Education (PSEE) program is offering field days for pesticide applicator recertification. This class will offer outdoor, hands-on recertification training for both private and commercial/ noncommercial (CNC) pesticide applicators.

STRATEGIC FARMING: LET’S TALK CROPS! SESSION TALKS ECONOMICS OF PREEMERGENCE HERBICIDES

On May 13, 2026, Thomas Peters, UMN Extension sugar beet agronomist and UMN Extension IPM educator Eric Yu joined UMN Extension crops educator Angie Peltier for a discussion about the economics of pre-emergence herbicides. This was the inaugural episode of the 2026 UMN Extension Strategic Farming: Field Notes series of webinars.

QUILT OF VALOR PRESENTED IN CURRIE

On June 13, 2026, US Army Vietnam War Veteran, Gerald “Gerry” Leonard, was presented with a Quilt of Valor at the Currie Legion Post #322. The quilt was given in honor, appreciation and thanks for his service; and to bring comfort, peace and healing. Legion member Denny Johnson, introduced the veteran and spoke about Gerry’s military service. Jill Defries and Kerry Cassens of Patriotic Piecers QOV group of Pipestone, presented his quilt.

MINNESOTA COURT CELEBRATES 75 YEARS

Court Queen of Peace #1558 celebrated 75 years with an evening meal at St. Ann’s Church Hall., Slayton, MN. National Director Nancy Bambenek, as well as several representatives from surrounding courts, were in attendance. Honored were 50 year members Lucille Halbur, Janet Anderson and Bev Schreier.

6-4-2026 3:47 a.m. - Ambulance requested in Slayton city, Murray County Ambulance was paged.

BUILDING PROJECT BEGINS AT FULDA SCHOOL

Temporary construction fencing was installed on Monday, June 8th, as the building project began at Fulda High School. The fencing blocks most entrances of the school, but allows entry through the southeast door.
