UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA EXTENSION AND MINNESOTA DAIRY INITIATIVE TO HOST AN EDUCATIONAL PRODUCER PROGRAM IN SLAYTON

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) is now accepting applications for the Farm to Food Security Grant program. Established by the Minnesota Legislature in 2025, the program is modeled after the former federal Local Food Purchase Assistance Program and supports local farmers and producers by funding projects that purchase local food and distribute it to Minnesotans experiencing food insecurity.

PUBLIC NOTICE FOR COMMODITY SUPPLEMENTAL FOOD PROGRAM (CSFP) FOR SENIORS

Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP), sponsored by Second Harvest Heartland distribution; will be held at the office of A.C.E. of Southwest Minnesota – Murray County at 2989 Maple Rd., Slayton, on Thursday, March 12th, from 1:30 – 2:30 pm. Distribution at the Fulda Food Shelf at 305 S Lafayette Ave will be Monday, March 16th, from 1:30 – 2 pm.

MDA LOOKING FOR COMMENTS ON THE STATE’S GROUNDWATER PROTECTION RULE

The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) is reminding the public that written comments on the state’s Groundwater Protection Rule must be submitted by Thursday, March 12. The MDA is seeking input to determine whether the rule, adopted in 2019, is adequate to protect Minnesota’s air, water, land, and other natural resources from nitrate pollution— or if additional restrictions are needed.

Read for the Record is an annual event where millions of people read the same book on the same day to celebrate the joy and importance of early literacy.
