Summer has arrived and so have other things.
Planting is done for a while. Now our main effort is cultivating via hoeing and hand removing of weeds and undesireable vegitation.
And there’s looking at our garden plants to see how their produce is coming.
One thing we tried to have every year is something from our garden for July 4th. This meant new potatoes even if quite small. And then something else even if just a little.
But we must check the sweet corn too. There is always the job of checking the corn July 4th to see if it is knee high. Some years it is nearly shoulder high the next week. Provided there’s enough rain and no hail.
As usual we’ve been getting our weekly emails from our garden mail order houses.
Plants are hardly mentioned now, but we have been asked to make orders for bulbs we plan to plant come Fall. These orders will be shipped for Fall planting.
Readers might remember one year this writer planted tulips the first week of December. In the meantime be sure to keep your house plants watered. And the fly swatter handy. Remember to check Farmer’s Markets in which ever town you shop in.
Until next week.
