GET THE DIRT

By Kathy Schwartz, Murray County Master Gardener Shrub roses need very little pruning. Allow them to grow to their natural size and shape.

Groundcovers are usually low-growing plants placed close together. They will grow in places were grass will not grow. These areas include shade, rocky or moist soils or steep slopes.

Treat slugs that often appear in the garden at this time of the year. Slugs often damage hosta plants. A non-toxic product called Sluggo has proven very effective.
