The Murray County Historical Society invites the public to attend its February Dinehart Lunchbox Lecture on Thursday, February 10 starting at noon. Honor Society students helped first graders paint their 100th Day T-shirts. It is always a big project and the high schoolers were a great help. First graders will be singing the National Anthem on February 10th and celebrating the 100th Day on February 11th.

BROOKINGS, S.D. - The following students have been named to the dean’s list for academic excellence after the fall 2021 semester at South Dakota State University. To earn dean’s list distinctions in SDSU’s colleges, students must have completed a minimum of 12 credits and must have earned at least a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Students with an asterisk received a perfect 4.0 GPA.

When I was thirteen years old I was happy to have ‘saved’ another boy from drowning in the Mississippi river at our old swimming hole in Minneapolis near the Lake Street bridge. He nearly drowned me in the process. Did I really ‘save’ him? Doctors, nurses, firefighters, police and medics work to ‘save’ lives. These men and women do a great service to the members of their communities, but I don’t believe they ‘saved’ the people; they did prolong the physical lives of the people they rescued.
