The Rebel Track and Field teams traveled to Cottonwood on Thursday, April 10th, to participate in a 10-team invitational. Although there were cold temperatures and high winds, that didn’t stop the tracksters from putting forth some great performances.
The Rebel boys won three of the four relays on the day. The team of Beckett Stelter, Henry Carlson, Walker Biren, and Wesley Hause started the meet, taking top honors in the 4x800 relay. Andrew Holm, Alex Betz, Anikan Larson, and Lucas Kuball won the 4x200 relay, while Betz, Holm, and Larson teamed up with Brayden Gilb to win the 4x400 relay. Just missing top honors was the 4x100 relay team of Holm, Caleb Rosenbrook, Luke Iverson, and Parker Olson.
In the open running events, sprinter Lucus Kuball (running in his first track meet) placed 4th in the 100 and 2nd in the 200, just edging out teammate Anikan Larson (3rd). The Rebel hurdlers had a fine all-around day, with Carter Knakmuhs placing 2nd in the 110 hurdles while teammates Tyler Reith and Blaine Braun placed 3rd and 4th. Reith placed 5th in the 300 hurdles while Parker Olson was 8th. Beckett Stelter came in 5th in the 400-meter dash. Alex Betz was runner-up in the 800 while Wesley Hause came in 8th in the 1600.
In the field events, jumpers Anikan Larson (long jump) and Andrew Holm (triple jump) each took runner-up honors. Pole vaulters Caleb Rosenbrook and Luke Iverson placed 4th and 5th. Rounding out the field events, thrower Isaiah Wolske placed 3rd in the shot put and 4th in the discus. Broox Platt and Carson Engelkes placed 5th and 8th in the discus.
Holland Vogel led the girls’ team, placing 2nd in the 2-mile and 6th in the 300 hurdles. Sophia Nelson placed 3rd in the 800 to round out the top running performances. In the field events, thrower Erica Doeden placed 5th in the shot put and 7th in the discus. Pole vaulters Chloe Kremer and Charley Holm placed 6th and 7th, respectively.
