MCC SCHOOL BOARD DISCUSSES THE ONGOING SHORTAGE OF APPLICANTS FOR POSITIONS AND IDEAS FOR THE FUTURE

Murray County Central School Board held their monthly meeting on April 8th at 6pm. The agenda was approved. The financials for the month were also reviewed and approved. They accepted the personnel changes presented by Superintendent Joe Meyer. These include the resignation of Brittany Berndt (Junior High Math Teacher) and Taitum Timm (ECSE Teacher) both at the end of the year, as well as the hiring of Payton Braun (ECSE Teacher) and Erin Scandrett (4th Grade Teacher). There was no one present for public forum.

4-H 2024 PROJECT BOWL ACTIVITIES

Murray County 4-H was fortunate to have youth participate in the 2024 State Project Bowl Competition. 4-H State Project Bowl was held on April 6, 2024, at Rice High School in Sauk Rapids, MN.

SLAYTON WOMEN OF TODAY FATHER DAUGHTER PROM

SET FOR SUNDAY, APRIL 28, 2024 The Slayton Women of Today is once again excited to be sponsoring their annual Father Daughter Prom on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at MCC High School Gymnasium in Slayton. Dads get ready to get all dressed up and make some special memories with your daughter(s).

CORRECTION

In the Murray County Commissioners meeting summary that was published April 1, 2024. To clarify the Intern Position at the Sheriffs Department is not funded by PIC. It is completely funded by the county and funds that had been set aside for this. PIC will only be administering the funds on behalf of the county. The county set aside $115,000 in ARPA funds to support up to 15 interns in a 3-year period.

MURRAY COUNTY 4-H TO HOST LIVESTOCK 101 WORKSHOP

Murray County 4-H will be hosting their first ever Livestock 101 workshop available to all Murray County 4-H families. The workshop will be at 6 p.m., Friday, April 18 at the Murray County 4-H Building, 3048 Broadway Ave., Slayton, MN.

Question: I am puzzled as to why seat belts are mandatory in vehicles along with a fine for not complying but our precious cargo in school buses are not required to wear them? Answer: School buses are one of the safest modes of transportation even without seatbelts. School buses are safer because of their large size and design.
