GOOD NEWS

Do you recall the story of Gideon in Judges 6:? The Midianites came each year and plundered the people of God; stole their animals and food so that God’s chosen people had to hide from their oppressors. When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor!” In a short time, God worked with Gideon and with a small army, they defeated all their enemies. Now compare that story with 1 Samuel 17: Where young David brings food to his brothers, serving in King Saul’s army. The entire army of Israel is afraid to go out and fight Goliath, but David has faith in God, and in the promises God gave to them. He defeats the giant, and the army then defeats the Philistines. We Christians have been given exceedingly great and precious promises by God. He has given us victory over our oppressors (Satan and his demonic forces). Jesus tells us in John 10:10 that it is the devil who comes to steal, to kill, and to destroy, but He (Jesus) has come, that we might have abundant life! So what’s the problem? Just listen to most Christians. They speak fear, doubt, and unbelief. They have more faith in what Satan is doing, than in what God had done for us through Christ. “Death and life is in the power of the tongue…” (Prov. 18:21). Let’s actually get into God’s Word, find His promises, and stand on them and confess them. God bless.
