DNR TO DISCUSS MANAGEMENT PLANS FOR ROBBIN’S SLOUGH IN MURRAY COUNTY

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources will be accepting public comment until February 7 on plans for an enhancement project on Robbin’s Slough in Murray County. The proposed project includes building and operating a water control structure.

DICK KNAPPER RECEIVES QUILT OF VALOR

On January 5, 2026, US Army Vietnam Veteran, Richard “Dick” Knapper, was presented with a Quilt of Valor following the meeting of the American Legion Post 322 Currie, MN. The quilt is given in honor, appreciation and thanks for the veteran’s service; and to bring comfort, peace, and healing to the veteran.

MURRAY COUNTY COMMISSIONERS SET LEVY, SALARIES FOR 2026

By Joanne Bergman In the final meeting of 2025, the Murray County Board of Commissioners set the 2026 levy and set salaries of elected officials. The final levy amount to meet the County’s budget for 2026 was set at $10,024,548, an increase of 8.13 percent.

FULDA CITY COUNCIL HEARS PLANS FOR MILLING AND OVERLAY OF CSAH 2

By Norma Dittman Randy Groves, Murray County Engineer, was present at the Monday night Fulda City Council meeting to detail the upcoming milling and overlay on CSAH 2. The work will begin at west County Road 2 extending east to U.S. Highway 59. Bollig Engineering will finish their planned projects before the county begins the work. Fulda City Council approved Resolution_ 2026-03 approving the county project within the municipal corporation.

BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM FALLS TO EDGERTON AT HOME

The MCC Rebel Boys Basketball team was at home for their first game after the holiday break on Tuesday. The Rebels played host to the Edgerton Flying Dutchmen with both teams 6-2 on the season and playing well. Edgerton beat Pipestone on Monday night and were looking for back to back wins in 2026. Much like the game on Monday in the MCC Gymnasium, this game came down to the end between two teams struggling to shoot the basketball.

GIRLS WIN FIRST HOME GAME AFTER HOLIDAYS AGAINST TMB

The MCC Rebel Girls Basketball team was back in action on Jan. 2nd after the long holiday break. The Rebels last game came back on December 19th with a win over Southwest Minnesota Christian. The Rebels were looking for their 6th win of the year in a Friday afternoon game against the Tracy Milroy Balaton Panthers. The Panthers were looking for their 4th win of the season but that would have to wait, as the Rebels defense and opportunistic offense led the way to a win.

FULDA/MCC WARRIORS ATTEND RUMBLE ON THE RED

The Fulda Murray County Central Warriors made the long trip to Fargo North Dakota just after the new year on the 2nd and 3rd of January to take part in the Rumble on the Red. In the Rumble on the Red there are no classes, so each individual could meet an opponent from a much bigger school.

HLOF EDGES OUT REBEL GIRLS IN CLOSE HOME GAME

The Murray County Central Rebel Girls Basketball team was at home to open the week Monday against the Heron Lake Okabena Fulda Coyotes. The two teams had similar records with six wins and 3 losses. The Coyotes had not played since before the Christmas break. The Rebels had beat the Panthers of TMB the past Friday. This game was a defensive battle that came down to the end.
