SCHOOL MENU Monday, November 14: Breakfast: Poptarts, Assorted Fresh Fruit & and Juice Choices, Milk. Lunch: Popcorn Chicken, Mashed Potatoes w/ Gravy, Steamed Corn, Buttered Bread, Assorted Fresh Fruits & Vegetables, Chilled Fruit Cocktail.

MCC Elementary had a lot of “fun” throughout the month of October as we completed two fun run activities. Every school goes through some sort of fundraising process to help fund various programs throughout the year. The goal of our fundraising effort at MCC Elementary this year was to provide an educational experience for our students, a meaningful incentive that promotes student wellbeing, and to take the pressure off of parents of having to “sell” different items. We conducted our first MCC Fun Run fundraiser, where students were asking for donations from various people to support student field trips, student activities, and various student projects that happen throughout the school year. In return, students participated in a “Fun Run” where each student attempted to run for 35 minutes and see how many laps they could complete. Through the fundraiser process, students received a Rebel Spirit Wear Shirt, various prizes based on donations they received, a daily character lesson, various class/grade competitions, pork burger picnic lunch, and the opportunity to enjoy a fun filled run with different music and tasks throughout the run. It was amazing to see the school spirit and watch the kids give great effort in the Fun Run. In total, we raised $32,580 in profit and all this money will directly benefit the MCC Elementary students. We want to say thank you to all business sponsorships, parents, community members, various donors and students for making this event such a great success.

By Student Reporter, Allie Paulzine This past weekend the Warriors competed at their last cross country meet of the year at the Minnesota State Cross Country State Tournament. It was a beautiful day for racing with a light drizzle during the girls race. Many of the runners enjoyed the beautiful course with many different changes in scenery. The girls team took fourth place scoring 149 points. Senior Amanda Overgauuw led the girls team, placing second out of 158 runners with a time of 17:48 just five and a half seconds behind state champ Jade Rypkema. Behind Amanda placing third was her twin sister Ashley running a time of 18:52. What an accomplishment to place second and third at the state meet. In 67th place was Brylei Schreier finishing in 20:40. Next up for the Warriors was Sophia Nelson (21:41) in 97th place. Megan Bakke finished with a time of 21:44 in 109th place. Crossing the finish line next for the Warriors was Lindsey Hause with a time of 22:06 in 121st place. Just four runners behind Hause came Lily Daniels, finishing in 22:18. The girls team has had an amazing season winning the conference and section then placing fourth at the state meet. The girls team has a lot to be proud of this season. Congratulations Ashley, Amanda, Brylei, Sophia, Megan, Lindsey, Lily, Allie, and Emma on an awesome season! Following the girls race, Evan Bumgardner competed in the extremely competitive boys race. Evan placed 27th with a time of 16:42. Evan has led the boys team the entire season and has had a great season! Can’t wait to see where this sport takes him in the future!

Nationwide’s Grain Bin Safety campaign has awarded 58 rescue tubes to first responders across the U.S. in 2022 The Currie Fire Department was awarded a grain rescue tube and specialized training to help protect against grain bin entrapments in the area. The resources are being provided by Nationwide and MN Soybean Research & Promo Board through Nationwide’s Grain Bin Safety advocacy campaign, which has supplied grain rescue tubes and hands-on training to 265 rural fire departments across 31 states since 2014. To deliver the resources, Nationwide partners with the National Education Center for Agricultural Safety (NECAS) to train first responders in a grain simulator. At least five grain rescue tubes provided through the campaign have been used to save lives of farmers trapped in grain bins.

Most of you know that De Tocqueville of France, over a hundred years ago visited the United States and searched all through the nation to find out what made America so great. It was not found in all our natural resources; it was not found in the political realm; he said it was found when he visited the Churches and heard the ministers preaching righteousness. Only then did he understand the greatness of her power. He said, “America is great because America is good; and if America ever ceases to be good, America will cease to be great.”

Grandmas come and grandma’s go..but before they do, mind you, most leave a legacy or two or three or four. And lest we forget, may we remember one today. This was posted by a friend of mine on Facebook, and asked her if she’d mind if I’d share it, name and all. I am most grateful she said yet, but even more so, honored to be able to present to you, a poem written by a woman named, Judith Colleen O’Dier.

Court Queen of Peace met Oct. 25 beginning with Holy Hour, Mass, light supper and meeting, Regent Amy Kathman called the meeting to order after prayer and flag pledge. Joan Ratzloff and Betty Palmer read the secretary and treasurer’s reports.
