COURT QUEEN OF PEACE

Court Queen of Peace met Oct. 25 beginning with Holy Hour, Mass, light supper and meeting, Regent Amy Kathman called the meeting to order after prayer and flag pledge. Joan Ratzloff and Betty Palmer read the secretary and treasurer’s reports.

Amy requested a volunteer for the chair of SOS (Support Our Seminarians). The job isn’t a difficult one--collect the money from the donations at each meeting, send it to one our 4 seminarians; Isaiah Olsem, Andrew Reiner, Randy Skeate, or Michael Szymanski. Notify one of the officers if you are willing to help out.

Betty Palmer in charge of Gummi Bear donations which helps fund Habitat For Humanity Houses has received $240 so far. Ask any CDA member for a package of Gummi Bears. Book Study for Advent was discussed-no decision made as to the book, when or where it will be held. It was suggested a sign in the hall and information in the bulletin. Containers will be at St. Ann’s, St. Mary’s, and St. Columba for donations to Bishop Dudley House for chap stick, men’s large or extra large underwear and socks. Collection will begin Nov. 1.

Pat Spartz is excited about decorating a Christmas tree at the museum with the “Recycled Items” theme. If you would be willing to help give her a call 507 227 9338. Trees need to be decorated by Dec. 7.

CDA has Meals on Wheels Nov. 7-11. A sign-up sheet was available for volunteering with some spots still not filled.

National CDA has requested funds to offer help through Catholic Charities those affected by Hurricane Ira. Court Queen of Peace made a motion to donate to the endeavor.

Jeaneen Nelson showed the latest issue of “Share” magazine and reminded us how lucky we as Catholic Daughters are, to have representatives from Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota and Nebraska on the National board.

Father Nguyen reminded the ladies to look to Mary as a model for showing love and raising a family.

Dates to remember: November 17 at 5:30. The Memorial Mass for remembrance of deceased CDA and KC members. A sign up sheet was available for liturgical duties. Amy will be in contact with the KC’s to see how they want to participate.

December 18 at 1 PM is the day set aside to prepare and distribute Christmas baskets to shut-ins and needy. If you care to contribute, cookies, candy, fruit, nuts or other Christmas goodies it would be appreciated.
