LOCAL MURRAY COUNTY YOUTH ATTENDS CONFERENCE IN DC

Roman Gaul, Murray County 4-H youth member attends the first Ignite 4-H Conference! A team of 23 Minnesota 4-H teens is in Washington, DC this week, including Murray County’s own Roman Gaul. They join more than 1,800 youth from across the country at the Ignite by 4 H Conference hosted by National 4-H! Throughout the week, delegates will dive into hands on workshops, hear from inspiring speakers, explore DC’s iconic sites, and build new connections as they develop plans to strengthen their communities back home.

FIVE YEARS OF REALITY CHECK

By Justine Wettschreck Another successful Reality Check took place on Monday, with more than two dozen volunteers and approximately 75 high school seniors from both MCC and Fulda. Reality Check is an annual financial literacy simulation for high school seniors, designed to teach real-life budgeting.

MURRAY COUNTY’S OLD HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT TO GO UP FOR AUCTION

The Murray County Commissioners are preparing to auction off the old Highway Department property on Highway 59, but the auction will not go live for a few weeks yet. During the Murray County Commissioners meeting on Tuesday, the board authorized the property to be listed as surplus on GovDeals.com.

Vowel Vet Day in Fulda Elementary Kindergarten

Fulda Elementary School kindergarten students had fun bringing their very favorite stuffed pet to Vowel Vet Day. The students had many lessons to learn side-byside with their pet to celebrate the day. They wrote sentences about their pet as well as giving them physicals, reading to them, and letting them watch while they completed their written assignments.

SEVERE WEATHER AWARENESS WEEK IS APRIL 13-27

The week is designed to refresh, remind and educate everyone about the seasonal threats from severe weather and how to avoid them. It’s also a great time to make and practice your emergency plan and build or refresh your emergency preparedness kit.
