The Slayton Area Chamber of Commerce is inviting businesses, organizations, churches, civic groups, families, and individuals to participate in the 2026 Prairie Days Parade, which will be held Saturday, August 15, at 1:00 p.m. in downtown Slayton.
This year’s parade theme is “Celebrating America’s 250th,” honoring the nation’s semiquincentennial. Participants are encouraged to incorporate patriotic decorations, red, white and blue colors, and creative interpretations of America’s 250-year history into their parade entries.
The annual Prairie Days Parade is one of the community’s most anticipated events, drawing hundreds of spectators from throughout southwest Minnesota. Parade entries may include floats, decorated vehicles, antique tractors, classic cars, marching groups, businesses, community organizations, and other creative entries.
“The Prairie Days Parade is a highlight of Prairie Days and a wonderful opportunity to celebrate our community while honoring America’s 250th birthday,” said Slayton Area Chamber of Commerce President Sheila Crowley. “We encourage everyone to join the celebration by entering the parade and showcasing their patriotic spirit.”
There is no cost to participate in the parade.
Anyone wishing to enter is asked to complete a parade entry form and return it as soon as possible by emailing it to slaytonchamber@ gmail.com.
