The Fulda Murray County Central Warriors had one triangular this past week against state ranked #8 Lake Crystal Welcome Memorial(LCWM), and the state ranked #4 Jackson County Central(JCC). The Warriors performed remarkably well and the score board showed it.

For the heavyweight bout, Colby Kesteloot took Michael Hansen into the third period before scoring and there scored his takedown along with a penalty point for the win in a 3-1 decision. With a final score of 31-34 the Warriors were mighty close to taking down the giant in our section. Until next time.
Next up in the Triangular were the Lake Crystal Welcome Memorial Knights. Ranked eighth in the state, another powerhouse of a team and the Warriors were more than ready to take on the challenge. First up at 107 was Kaston Clarke against Brody Kerbst. Clark and Kerbst went 3 periods of which Kerbst came out on top scoring 8 points on two takedowns, a nearfall and an escape. The 121# bout had Truman Olsem and Ryder Antony again going three periods, but Olsem wasn’t able to score and Antony won 8-0. (0-12) Knights. Brayden Gilb really showed off his takedown skills putting on a clinic against Jack Buss winning the match 13-5 on 5 takedowns, a reversal and a penalty point. Teague Meyer fell by pinfall to Carson Othoudt after scoring the first takedown in the first period. (4-18 Knights). Aiden Lorenzen was dominating and Parker Kamm was forced to forfeit his match by injury default. (10-18 Knights) Denver Ash was wrestling well into the third period where an illegal suplex by Zach Palmer forced him to leave the match by injury default and the win went to Denver Ash because of the illegal move. (16-18 Knights) Quintin Lewis was next against Talan Osborne at 152 and Lewis was the dominant wrestler going three periods and winning with an 8-7 decision giving the Warriors their first lead of the dual. (19-18 Warriors) Owen Olsem went to bat at the 160 lb. bout against Ryan Palmer and was holding his own. In the third period Olsem was also illegally thrown and was also the recipient of an injury default win as he wasn’t able to finish the match. Noah Mathiowetz and Jaxon Wendorff at 172 and 189 both lost by pin fall before Carson Klein grabbed the reigns and steered the team back on course, taking Mason Adams three periods, dominating in every way, winning with an 11-5 decision. (28-30 Knights) Colby Kesteloot wrestled very well against Dietrich Rosin, but just couldn’t find a way to score, eventually losing 4-1, putting the Knights on top 28-33.
It was a very tough night for the Warriors, but they handled themselves very well, maintaining composure and acting appropriately, given the circumstances of the illegal moves that caused injury to their teammates.
This is a really great group of kids and we’re proud of the respect they have for their opponents, teammates, and fans. Coming up this week is a quad in Granite Falls, Tuesday night at 5 and another quad in St. James, Thursday night at 5.
