TRINITY LUTHERAN OFFERS CHANCE TO ‘ASK THE PASTOR’

As part of its continuing Evangelism effort, Trinity Lutheran Church is reaching out to the Murray County community to answer questions about faith, forgiveness and family.

Trinity Lutheran Pastor Jeffrey Williams is soliciting email questions from community members and will respond to each in a new venture called “Ask The Pastor.”

“Our desire is to give back to the community,” Williams said. “We’ve been doing “Moments of Meditation” (a daily devotion every weekday on KJOE radio) for a long time and we hope that Slayton hears what we believe, teach and confess. We’d like to offer everyone to provide feedback, to give people the chance to ask questions.”

Folks will be able to ask questions via accessing Trinity Lutheran’s website. The URL address is ask.trinityslayton.info.

The anonymous questions will be answered via website and some will be featured on Moments of Meditation. The hope is that people provide their first names and email addresses so Williams can email longer answers.

“You can’t learn without asking questions. Any professional teacher knows that,” Williams said. “No question is off the table ... The question can be as simple as ‘Who is Jesus?’ Or it can be about obscure points of doctrine.”

The Trinity Lutheran congregation cares deeply about the community. The church’s preschool has been a tangible and consistent example of its commitment to Slayton and the youth of Murray County.

“We don’t have the resources to run a homeless shelter or the resources to duplicate the food bank,” Williams said. “Our congregation is small and we don’t have the room and resources for that. But I can answer questions. And we can be there for people.

“We hope to be that beacon of light in the darkness, which is what Epiphany is all about.”

Trinity Lutheran Church, affiliated with the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod, is located at the corner of King Avenue and Highway 30 in Slayton.
