Murray County 4-H concludes its summer day camp series with teaching youth how to utilize power and the history of the Murray County Fair!
The last two Murray County 4-H summer day camps; “Power Protectors,” was held on July 15 and “The Great Murray County Fair Amazing Race,” was held the following day, both starting at 1 p.m. and held at the Murray County 4-H Building. This was a free event for youth to attend!
During Power Protectors, youth were able to learn about the different types of energy and how it could be utilized and conserved. They played games that tested their knowledge and were even able to bring home a s’mores solar power activity! The Power Protectors were also taught about the upgrading of the lighting throughout the 4-H building and Heritage Hall which was paid for in part by a CERT grant presented to Murray County 4-H.
Kids brought out their competitive side for the Great Murray County Fair Amazing Race by locating certain buildings on the fairgrounds by answering questions about the history of the Murray County Fair. Between the activities and the running from building to building, these campers went home with new knowledge and a completed workout. Between the two camps, over one hundred and ten youth attended.
