MCC TRACK TEAM COMPETES WELL AT PANTHER II INVITE

The Murray County Central track and field teams turned in many strong performances Tuesday, April 21, at the Panther II Invite, highlighted by a relay championship, multiple runner-up finishes, and several top-eight individual placers on both the boys and girls sides.

Boys Recap

The Rebels were led by a first-place finish in the 4x800 relay, where the team of Beckett Stelter, Henry Carlson, Brayden Gilb, and Alexander Betz clocked a winning time of 8:54.37.

MCC also picked up a trio of runner-up finishes in relays. The 4x100 team of Caleb Rosenbrook, Lucas Kuball, Parker Olson, and Alexander Betz placed second in 45.48, while the 4x200 relay (Max Mathiason, Kolten Nielsen, Dylan Gilbertson, Luke Iverson) took second in 1:39.86. The 4x400 team of Alexander Betz, Beckett Stelter, Brayden Gilb, and Lucas Kuball added another second-place finish in 3:36.08.

Individually, the Rebels saw several athletes reach the podium. In distance events, Micah Janssen placed third in the 800 meters (2:17.40) and added another third-place finish in the 1600 meters (5:06.90). Carter Larson earned a thirdplace finish in the 3200 meters (11:55.29), while Henry Hause placed sixth in the 800 (2:25.24).

Henry Carlson turned in a strong meet, finishing eighth in the 400 meters (58.61) and adding a fifth-place effort in the triple jump (34-5).

In the hurdles, Parker Olson placed fourth in the 110-meter hurdles (18.84) and improved to a runner-up finish in the 300-meter hurdles (46.24).

Teammate Dylan Gilbertson followed closely with a fourthplace finish in the 300 hurdles (47.75). Evan Braun finished just outside of the scoring, placing 9th in 300 hurdles.

Field events were another area of success for MCC. Broox Platt placed fourth in the shot put (43-4) and fifth in the discus (125-6), while Gabriel Wolske took sixth in the discus (120-1.5) and 10th in the shot put. In the high jump, Wyatt Thompson cleared 5-4 to place fourth, while Ayden Like and Max Mathiason tied for eighth at 5-0.

Pole vault saw Luke Iverson finish third (10-0), Caleb Rosenbrook take fourth (9-6), and both Austin Reese and Aubin Licht tie for eighth (7-6).

Other notable top-eight finishes included Parker Olson (2nd, 300 hurdles), and Dylan Gilbertson (4th, 300 hurdles).

Girls Recap

On the girls side, the Rebels were paced by a number of top-eight finishes, including a strong fourth-place effort from Isabela Schreier in the 400 meters (1:05.44). Schreier also anchored the 4x200 relay team of Kenslee Bobeldyk, Kora Kremer, and Brecken Larson to a fifth-place finish (2:01.72).

Schreier added another topeight finish in the 200 meters, placing eighth (29.90).

Kenslee Bobeldyk had a busy day, placing ninth in the 400 meters (1:09.15), 12th in the 100 meters (14.69), and helping the 4x200 relay to its fifthplace finish. She also added a 16th-place effort in the triple jump.

In the pole vault, Kora Kremer cleared 6-6 to tie for third place, giving MCC one of its highest individual finishes of the day.

In the throwing events, Olivia Heard placed ninth in the shot put (26-1.25) and improved to sixth in the discus (71-8.75), while Antonina Godlewska added a 12th-place finish in discus (62-4) and 24th in shot put. Ainsley Pieske also competed in the shot put, placing 25th.

Kiana Platt competed in both the 100 meters (16th, 15.08) and shot put (28th, 16-8), while Brecken Larson added a 22ndplace finish in the 100 and contributed to the 4x200 relay.

Overall, the Rebels showed depth across multiple events and continued to build momentum early in the season, highlighted by strong relay performances and key individual contributions.
