MCC GIRLS CAPTURE RED ROCK CONFERENCE TITLE; REBELS EARN MULTIPLE ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS

The Murray County Central golf teams wrapped up the Red Rock Conference season with strong performances and several individual honors during the final conference meet at Worthington Country Club. Players were greeted with sunny skies but brutal winds throughout the day. While the course was in excellent condi-tion, the Rebels battled difficult putting surfaces and challenging shots around the trees during the final conference competition.

The boys team finished sixth overall in the final Red Rock Conference standings with a four-meet total of 1,536. Mountain Lake Area secured the conference championship for the third year straight with a score of 1,376, while SWMCH-EHS finished as runner-up at 1,412. Individually, Kaden Landsman turned in an outstanding conference season for the Rebels, earning All-Conference honors with a fifth-place finish overall after shooting a four-meet total of 259. Maxton Fast of Mountain Lake Area/Comfrey and Parker Fey of SWMCH-EHS shared conference medalist honors with scores of 249.

The MCC girls team captured the Red Rock Conference Championship with a season total of 1,544, narrowly edging Russell-Tyler-Ruthton by four strokes. Mountain Lake Area/ Comfrey placed third with a score of 1,575. The Rebels were led throughout the season by multiple All-Conference performers. Rachael Huso earned fourth place overall individually with a total score of 269, while Natalie Einck finished sixth overall at 280. Teigyn Oleary of Russell-Tyler-Ruthton claimed the individual girls conference title with a 264.

MCC’s golfers battled through challenging conditions throughout conference play and continued to show growth as the season progressed. Several players noted that continued work approaching the greens and putting consistency will be a key focus heading into postseason competition.

The Rebels will now shift their attention to the Section tournament at Worthington Golf Course. Day one of sections is scheduled for Wednesday, May 20th, with the final round taking place Wednesday, May 27.
