By Arnold Krusemark The Fair is over and its back to our gardening work. We hope your garden is producing well. And the larger squash and other garden products are coming along.
In past years about this time we have mentioned it might be a good idea to do some late season planting. For one thing whatever radishes you planted in the spring are now gone to seed and have big woody root crops.
They aren’t the only spring garden products about done. We have suggested you replant maybe a single row of seeds which will keep your dinner table supplied until freeze up. In selecting what to plant, remember to select items which have a producing season of 60 days or less. This might include lettuce, radishes and some other things. While you are at it, many of you now have fruit trees about ready to harvest too. And, for those of you who get some shrubs and related, now is a good time to get them and plant so they can get their roots established before winter. This, along with what you have needing harvesting now will keep you busy.
Also care for your house plants too.
Until next week.
