GET THE DIRT

By Kathy Schwartz, Murray County Master Gardener Drought tolerant means plants that deal with severe drought on a regular basis and then recover from repeated wilting. However, all plants need to be watered while getting established, usually 2-3 weeks.

Drought resistant means plants can withstand periods of little or no water when planted in a landscape. No plant in a container is truly drought resistant. They all need some water. aHeat tolerant means plants that flourish despite hot temperatures.
