FEBRUARY 13 MLAC AT MCC
The MCC Rebel Boys Basketball team was looking for a revenge win on Tuesday night against the Edgerton Flying Dutchmen. The Rebels were looking to improve their possible Sub Section Seeding with a win over Edgerton, who beat them earlier this year in Slayton.
To improve that seeding, the Rebels would have to go on the road and pick up another big win away from home.
They came out of the blocks quickly, pushing the tempo with Dugan Kluis scoring around the rim on a variety of drives to the basket, including a terrific reverse layup on a baseline drive.
The Rebels’ Aiden Swenson struggled earlyain the game, but it didn’t seem to matter. The Rebels built a 30-4 lead in the first half. The Flying Dutchmen finished the half strong, scoring 14 of the final 16 points in the half. The Rebels led at the break 32 to 14.
MCC extended the lead to over 20 points in the second half. Wyatt Thompson played a great offensive game for the Rebels, finding himself open on the break and creating space around the basket for easy shots. The 6’7” senior dropped in 19 points in the game. It appeared the Rebels might win this game in a rout, but Edgerton picked up their defensive pressure. The Rebels committed too many turnovers down the stretch and soon the lead was single digits with a couple minutes left in the game. The Rebels made key free throws down the stretch and Thompson found himself open for a couple more easy baskets. The Rebels got the win 68 to 56.
The Rebels outshot the Flying Dutchmen from the field 41 percent to 32 percent. Both teams struggled to shoot the 3-pointers. Edgerton made 5 and MCC made 4. The Rebels had a big advantage at the free throw line, making 16 compared to Edgerton’s 9. Thompson had a great game for the Rebels along with his 19 points he had 12 rebounds. Dugan Kluis finished the game with 18 points and Krew Schneider finished with 8. The Rebels picked up their 16th win of the season with two more games to play this year. The Rebels will host Adrian Ellsworth on Friday night in the Rebels final home game of the season.

Aidan Swenson scored 14 points in the first half and Tristan Behrends scored nine, as the trio would outscore the Wolverines on their own. Aidan Olson scored 11 first half points, but the Rebels led at the break 46 to 30.

MCC made 9 three point shots in the second half led by Tayden Beerman, who knocked down three. The Rebels extended their lead past 35 points.
