KNIGHTS SWEEP REBELS ON NEW COURT

The Rebels traveled to Tyler Friday night to take on the Knights in their brand new gym. MCC was excited to play in the new facility, but knew it would be a challenge. The two faced off earlier in a preseason scrimmage, but now both teams had a setter out due to knee injuries. The biggest thing the Rebels needed for the night was energy!

MCC started off the night a bit sluggish. The Knights started off game one much cleaner than the Rebels, and gained a lead early on. Three ace serves in a row from Ciera Tutt allowed MCC to get back into the game and get a lead. The Rebels and Knights fought point for point throughout the set. Late in the game MCC had a few defensive errors which were tough to bounce back from. Huge rally plays helped MCC, but it wasn’t enough. The Rebels dropped set one 23-25 to the Knights. RTR started the second game with momentum and an early lead. MCC made some big swings at the net to get them caught back up early on. The Rebels continued to make defensive errors throughout the game though and could not match those errors on the offensive end. The Knights took game two 13-25. Game three started with great rally play back and forth between the two teams. MCC made a few errors, but bounced back quickly. Slowly, the Knights gained an edge and took the lead over the Rebels. MCC’s energy dwindled and their errors rose. In the end RTR shut MCC down 12-25, winning the match three to none.

The Rebels will have the next week off as they prepare for their first conference matchups against Adrian and RRC. Their week will be spent hashing out their rotation, improving defensively, and executing more aggressively at the net.
