By Arnold Krusemark The neighborhood news this week is that the first sweet corn is garden ready. If you don’t have any yet, try stopping at Farmers’ Market. The area supermarkets say they will have some locally grown when they can. These will be the smaller ears now with larger ones coming. Farmers might remember when we talked about a very large corn ear (Silo corn) in September which much have been about four inches in diameter and only one fed our family for at least one meal. Otherwise our gardening now consists of hoeing, weeding, and watching the produce grow.

By Kathy Schwartz, Murray County Master Gardener Once or twice a month, turn your compost pile to speed decomposition and minimize any objectionable odors. Water the pile to keep it moist, but not soggy.
