Richard Lee Patch son of Bert and Alice (Berg) Patch, born on April 13, 1959 in Bemidji MN. He was the baby out of 14!
In 1978, he met and later in 1978 married Shirley Thompson in Milbank South Dakota, where they made their home in South Haven later moving to Glencoe. In 1981 they welcomed their first daughter Betty. In 1982 they moved down to Currie MN where they made that their home. Rick milked cows with Art. In 1985 they welcomed their second daughter Lila. Rick continued to milk cows till they sold out and he would start working with David Amundson. He would go around the area grinding hay for many people in the area. In 1987 they welcomed their third daughter Ricci. In 1990 they welcomed their fourth and final daughter Tyna. In 1997 Rick would start working for David A Swenson, he worked there until he retired in 2022. After his retirement he spent his days with Shirley till her death in 2023. After Shirley passed away you could find Rick helping out at one of the neighbors doing so many odd things, which he was always willing to help them. Rick passed away unexpectedly on October 22, 2024 at the Westbrook hospital at the age of 65. Rick will be greatly missed by all that knew him, especially his buddies Carl Conrad and Mike Ritzo.
Survivors include his 4 daughters and their families. Betty & Todd Fraser of Pipestone, children Gabbi Patch, Brentley and Addilyn Fraser; Lila & Mitch Meyer of Iona, children Dulanie Patch and Thomas Meyer; Ricci & Delly Wildfeuer of Currie, children Autumn (Kyle Mclain), Madisen, Tucker and Emily Wildfeuer and great grandson Gunner Mclain; Tyna & Alex Gilb of Dovray, and children Jonathan Patch, Arthur and Oliver Gilb. Special family friends Erin Conrad and Doug Bundy of Westbrook, children Kasey Bundy, Mandy Berglund of Slayton, children Kathleen and Lorenz Berglund. Step great granddaughter Shaunie Fuller of Iowa, children Aurora, Wesley and Raelynn Fuller. His girlfriend Brenda Willhite of Slayton. Brenda brought alot of joy back to Ricks life after the loss of his wife. His 8 sisters, Bertha, Alice, Arlene, Sylvia, Carol, Beverly, Eileen, June and many nieces and nephew. As well as his great uncle Harmon Patch sir of Fargo.
Rick enjoyed being outside, spending time with his kids and grandkids, visiting his sisters, bull-shitting with anyone who stopped out to visit him.
Hes proceeded in death by his wife Shirley of 44 years, his parents, 2 sisters, 3 brothers and his father and mother in laws. Ricks celebration of Life will be November 2 2024 at the Currie Community Center from 1-4 pm.
