Early Childhood Screening
The early childhood years from birth to the start of kindergarten are an important time of rapid learning and growth. Early Childhood Screening is a free and simple check of how your child is growing, developing and learning.
It consists of a developmental screening (motor skills, speech and language assessment, cognitive skills, social/emotional parent questionnaire), a health history and immunization review, along with height, weight, vision and hearing screenings.
It is recommended that children are screened when they are three years old. Early Childhood Screening is required in Minnesota before a child attends public school.
This screening may also help you link to other free learning opportunities, such as pre kindergarten programming, Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE), Minnesota early learning scholarships for high quality care and education, Head Start, Home Visiting, and Early Childhood Special Education.
MCC will be hosting a screening on Monday, January 31st. Please call (507)836-6945 if your child was 3 on September 1st, 2021 (birthdate of 9/1/2018 or earlier) if you have not already received information.
