MCC held its first home varsity golf meet this past Thursday against Adrian/Ellsworth. It was a perfect evening, with sunny skies and mild winds. The Rebels were excited to get out and golf their home course. The greens were slow, which made putting difficult for all the players. However, a majority of MCC’s golfers stated it was their tee shots and mental game that needed improvement after the meet.
Ciera Tutt led MCC for the girls with a score of 51. She tied for 2nd place along with Taya Elias (Adrian/Ellsworth), and followed behind medalist Josie Altman (Adrain/Ellsworth). Tutt stated she needs to knock down some of her double bogeys to bogeys or pars to improve her game and be more competitive within the conference.
On the boys side, Eli Hernandez led the Rebels with a 49, he finished in 5th place. The medalist for the boys was Brock Henning (Adrian/Ellsworth). The girls were able to sneak away with the team win, but unfortunately the boys came up short.
Adrian/Ellsworth proved that they will be tough competition going forward into the season. The Rebels will need to continue working on not only their individual games, but their mental games as well.
