GIRLS TRACK QUALIFIES FOR STATE IN FOUR EVENTS

The members of the Rebel track teams traveled to Pipestone for the 3A Section Track meet. Schools competing in this section meet included:

EAST SUBSECTION: BOLD/ BLHS, Canby/Minneota, Central Minnesota Christian/ Comm. Christian, Lakeview, Redwood Valley, Wabasso, WWG/RRC, Yellow Medicine East

SOUTHWEST SUBSECTION: Adrian /Ellsworth, HBC, Luverne, MCC, Pipestone, RTR, SWC/Edgerton, TMB,

NORTHWEST SUBSECTION: Benson/KMS, Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley, Hancock, LQPV-DB, MACCRAY-RCW, Montevideo, Morris Area-Chokio- Alberta, Ortonville. The top two finishers along with those that meet the state standard would qualify for the state meet.

The Rebel girls had a great overall day, placing 6th as a team and qualifying 4 events for the state track meet. Brylei Schreier, competing in the open 400, was sitting in third place halfway through her race but was able to turn it on the last 200 meters as she pulled away to win by a couple seconds, running a personal best time of 59.97 and earning a spot at the state track meet. Joining her at state in individual events would be Ashley and Amanda Overgaauw. Ashley would place second in the 800 while Amanda was the 2 mile champion, winning by over 55 seconds. The 4x800 relay of Brylei Schreier, Sophia Nelson, Ashley Overgaauw, and Amanda Overgaauw just missed out on a section championship placing second by less than 0.2 seconds, running a very impressive time of 9:48. They will have another opportunity to top Luverne at the state meet.

The 4x400 relay just missed out on a state birth, placing 3rd. Members included Brylei Schreier, Megan Bakke, Ashley Overgaauw and Amanda Overgaauw. Sophia Nelson and Megan Bakke placed 5th and 10th in the 800 meter run. Lindsey Hause tied for 12th in the high jump. Seniors Ryanna Schreier and Brailyn Breberg finished their career as they placed 10th and 11th in the 100 meter dash.

On the boys side, Ryan Risacher placed 7th in the 110 meter hurdles and 4th in the 300 hurdles. Ryan had a very impressive season, becoming one of the top hurdlers in the area in just his first year doing them. The four seniors; Rylan Engelkes, Brock Smith, Logan Steinle and Ryan Risacher teamed up one more time in a Rebel uniform and ran a season best time in the 4x400 relay to place 12th.

Sophia (4x800), Brylei (400 and 4x800), Ashley (800 and 4x800) and Amanda (3200 and 4x800) will compete at the Minnesota class A State Track meet on Thursday and Friday. Good luck girls!
