Randy Peterson was born on May 14, 1955, in Tyler, Minnesota to Percy and Luella Kindler Peterson. He grew up in the Russell and Marshall, MN area. He was baptized and confirmed in the Presbyterian Church. Randy graduated from Russell High School in 1973. On June 12, 2003, he and Karen Weinberg were married in Sioux Falls, SD. They made their home in Marshall, MN and in 2004 moved to Iona, MN. Randy worked for Marshall Truss for many years before joining Fullerton Building Systems in Worthington, MN. He retired in 2012. Randy passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023, at the age of 67. Randy enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, camping, helping others with automotive repairs, carpentry and watching the Minnesota Vikings.
Survivors include his wife, Karen Peterson of Iona, MN, five children and their spouses, Dustin and Jill Mullaney of Harrisburg, SD, Ryan Peterson of Russell, MN, Carmen Peterson of Sartell, MN, Anita Nybo of Iona, MN, and Mike and Laura Nybo of Marshall, MN, 12 grandchildren Sophia, Dylan, Isaiah, Kielee, Motly, Scarlett, Evealyn, Brock, Caleb, Jayden, Jacob, and Jace, seven siblings and their spouses, Darlene Plantz of Brewster, MN, Vicky Greve of Marshall, MN, Eugene Peterson of Palmyra, MO, Karen and Arden Eilers of Canby, MN, Becky and Bill perry of Naples, FL, Bonnie and Jerry Christianson, of Canby, MN, and Clayton and Raquel Peterson of Marshall, MN, and one brother-in-law, Richard Lange of Marshall, MN. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Deanna Lange and two brothers-in-law, Rodney Plantz and Tom Greve.
Funeral services were held at Iona Presbyterian Church in Iona, MN on Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Deb Klassen officiating. The organist was Sharon Lais. The pallbearers were Dean Plantz, Jason Buchert, Daryl Neels, Allen Habben, Roger Rolfes, Brian Scotting, and Kevin Braun. Interment was at the Lynd City Cemetery in Lynd, MN.
