Judy Holden, the daughter of Richard and Sophie Wanous, was born on May 23, 1943 in Hutchinson, MN. She grew up on a farm near Silver Lake, MN where she attended and graduated from high school. In 1965 she graduated from St. Cloud State University with a degree in Elementary Education. Her first teaching position was at Lakefield, MN, where she taught kindergarten for 3 years. Judy was united in marriage to Gary Holden on August 10, 1968 at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Glencoe, MN. After their marriage they lived in Fairmont, MN and she taught in Sherburn, MN. In 1969 they moved to Fulda, MN to teach. Judy retired in 1995 after teaching kindergarten for 25 years in Fulda. Judy remained in her home after Gary died in February of 2002.
Judy passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025 at her home at the age of 82. She was a member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Fulda where she had served as a eucharistic minister, FCCW group leader and did scheduling for the ministers. She enjoyed being in her backyard tending to her flower and vegetable gardens. If not in the backyard, you could find her watching sports, reading, coloring, doing sudoku or going to the casino.
Survivors include her brotherin- law, Robert Dahlman; sisters- in-law, Louise Holden and Janet Nathe; 15 nieces and nephews, Daryl Dahlman, Jane (Mark) Schmidt, Brian (Tiffany) Dahlman, June (Wade) Dahlman- Hartl, Dawn (Aaron) Rauschendorfer, Kent Dahlman, Keri (Adam) Hickle, Michelle Wanous, Mike (Holly) Wanous, Juli (Brad) Zahler, Cindi (Jim) Gervais, David (Judy) Holden, Tony (Anastasia) Nathe, Amy Keigher and Nicole (Paul) Hydukovich and 38 great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Darlene Dahlman, brother, Richard Wanous Jr. and brothers-in-law, Don Holden and James Nathe.
Funeral services were held at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church Fulda, MN at 2:00 PM on Friday, August 29, 2025 with Fr. Antony Arokiyam officiating. Interment at St. Gabriel’s Cemetery Fulda, MN.
