JOHN THOMAS RZESZUTEK, SR

John Thomas Rzeszutek was born on August 16th, 1942 in Minneapolis, MN to Frank and Margaret (Shudy) Rzeszutek. He grew up and attended school in Spring Lake Park, MN. John entered the U.S. Army in June of 1964 course trained in Engineering with an Expert Rifleman badge. He was honorably discharged and moved on to become a Millwright/ Supervisor. Throughout his career he worked as a held foreman/supervisor level positions in metal fabrication, welding and metal fabricator, engineer liaison for finalizing structural prints and installation of bridge cranes, monorails, service rails, conveyors, and various construction positions. John often succeeded in projects through his innovation, creativity and his ability to build and construct. He built garages, outbuildings, numerous playhouses and portable fish houses.

Throughout his life he lived in North Dakota, Minnesota and South Dakota. His favorite childhood memories were fishing all over MN with his dad, his grandma and grandpa’s doting over him “Joshu,” and his mom’s cooking, joking around, and fun personality. He enjoyed fishing his whole life taking, trips to Canada with friends & family, innovating, rebuilding and working on old cars, and spending time with his children. He loved the peacefulness of the lake, taking pictures of sunsets and moon rises while listening to the sounds of the Loons.

John mentioned that the most interesting place was driving up north and learning about the area. He enjoyed flying to Colorado and looking down at the interesting land below and spending time with his grandchildren who remind him of his kids and how wonderful it was.

Survivors include: his sons John Jr. (Tammy), Chad, Casey, his daughters: Mariya and Evangeline (Ryan), his granddaughters, grandsons and great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Carol, Margie and June, daughter-in-law Terry, great-grandson Patrick, cousin Jerry, nephew Todd and other beloved family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at Wright and Comes Funeral Home located at 1111 4th St NE, Watertown, SD 57201 on Saturday June 21st at 12:30pm. John will be laid to rest in Colorado.
