John Alan Terry, 89, of Lindstrom, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2025. Born on June 12, 1935, in Slayton, Minnesota, John lived a life defined by devotion to his family, faith and community.

A proud alumnus of Slayton High School, where he played football and basketball for the Wildcats. John furthered his education at the Minnesota School of Business. His professional career spanned over four decades as an office manager with W. G. Pearson Inc./ Prior Lake Aggregates, where he worked from 1959 until his retirement in 2000. He was known to everyone at work as J. T. Known for his loyalty and fiscal responsibility, John was a steadfast provider and protector for those he held dear.

John served honorably in the United States Army from 1956 to 1957. His sense of duty extended beyond his military service into his personal life as a pillar of support within his community. A man of deep faith, John was actively involved in Hope Presbyterian Church and Linwood Covenant Church, serving as a deacon and participating in the Helping Hands ministry.

An avid sportsman, John found joy in hunting, fishing and camping-pursuits that reflected his love for nature and created countless cherished memories with family and friends. Those who knew him will fondly remember his unique sense of humor and quick wit that could brighten any room. John also loved to hold hands with his girls.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Marlys Terry; daughter Dawn Terry Wilson (Tobin Wilson); son Peter Terry; grandchildren Jessica, Katelyn, Madeline, Tyler, Mitchell, and Jack; and great-grandchildren Cora and August. He was predeceased by his father H.M.S. (Pop) Terry, mother Florence Terry, brother Chuck Terry, sister Peggy Smith and sister Jean Terry.

A celebration of John’s life will be held on Saturday March 1, 2025, at Linwood Covenant Church at 6565 Viking Blvd NE in Wyoming, MN. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Linwood Covenant Church.
