Jerry Bloch was born on August 6, 1941, in Slayton, Minnesota to Leo and Julia Bloch. He was Baptized and Confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. Jerry grew up on the family farm north of Slayton and graduated from Slayton High School in 1959. Jerry then attended Augustana University where he met his wife Kathleen Krull.
On February 24, 1962 Jerry and Kathy were married at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Holstein, Iowa. Following their marriage, they made their home on their acreage north of Slayton and raised their two children, Mike and Laurie.
Jerry passed away at Ava’s House (Sanford Medical Center) on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at the age of 80. Jerry was a member of First Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, SD. He was a strong supporter of wildlife conservation and loved to spend his time hunting, trapping, and fishing. Jerry lost his father Leo at the age of 14 and they can now remember the special times that they enjoyed together.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Kathy, son, Mike Bloch and his wife Lisa of Gilroy, CA and their large family, daughter, Laurie Clauson and her husband Jon of Rogers, MN and their two sons Joe and Jake Clauson.
A private family service took place on Friday, June 17, 2022, at Heritage Funeral Home in Sioux Falls with Pastor Katherine Olson officiating.
