Florence Tutt, age 95, of Lake Wilson, Minnesota, passed away peacefully at The Gardens of Winsted on March 27, 2022, with her family by her side.
Florence Serene (Erickson) Tutt was born to Carl and Serene (Ness) Erickson on May 15, 1926, in Ellsborough Township, Murray County, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Ellsborough
Lutheran Church. Florence attended elementary school at District #45, Murray County, and graduated from Ruthton High School in 1943. After graduation she attended Normal Teachers’ Training in Ivanhoe, MN. She graduated from that in 1944 and taught in two rural schools in Murray County for four years.
On August 2, 1947, Florence married Carroll Tutt at Ellsborough Lutheran Church. They lived on the Tutt family farm where Florence devoted her time to her home and family. They raised three of their four children on this farm. In 1965 Florence and Carroll moved to their home on Highway 91. In 1966 their fourth child, Kimberly, was born. With children ranging in ages from a baby to 18, she once again devoted her life to raising her children. Florence loved the Lord and she led and inspired her children in their Christian faith. In 2010 they moved to Oak Street in Slayton, MN, and enjoyed getting to know their neighbors and their lunch friends at the Senior Center. In October 2017, they moved into Lindenwood Assisted Living in Slayton, MN, and remained there until June 2019 when they moved to Maple Lawn Senior Care in Fulda, Minnesota. In July 2020, Carroll and Florence moved to The Gardens at Winsted in Winsted, MN, to be near their daughters.
Florence was an active member of Ellsborough Lutheran Church where she held many offices over the years. She taught Sunday School, Summer Bible School, and enjoyed her Women’s Bible Studies. In her community, Florence was an extension member and a 4-H leader for over 25 years.
In their later years Florence and Carroll enjoyed traveling to Pennsylvania to visit their daughters and wintering in McAllen, Texas. Florence and Carroll traveled overseas visiting the Holy Land, Egypt, Austria, and Germany.
Florence will be remembered by her friends and family as someone who welcomed you into her beautiful home with a smile, a cup of coffee, and, of course, a cookie! She loved her family and many friends. She was an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, neighbor, and friend. Florence will be lovingly remembered by her children - Cathy Houg, Carolyn Barr, Jim (Sue) Tutt, and Kimberly (Tom) Moorse; her grandchildren – Tara (Kory) Scholton, Noah Houg, Taylor (Samantha) Tutt, Tiffany (Grant) Bose, and Mitchell Moorse; her great-grandchildren – Addison and Layton Scholton, Grayson, Bristol, and Drew Tutt; her brother-in law – Jim Bjorge; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years - Carroll; her parents; her brothers – Carroll, Gilman, Marvin, Jimmy; her sister – Fran Bjorge; her sisters-in-law – Marilyn & Arlys Erickson, Velma, Nina, Stella, and Bess Tutt, Mary (Tutt) Owens, Irene (Tutt) Telford; her brothers-in-law – Jim Telford, Bob Owens, and Ralph, Art, Fred, Earl, and John Tutt.
The family will celebrate the lives of Florence and Carroll (Carroll died on 1/9/21.) at 2:00 p.m. on May 12 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Lake Wilson, MN.
